Who is Steering?
“Yours O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is Yours. Yours is the Kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all. In Your hand are power and might, and in Your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now we thank You, our God, and praise Your glorious name.” - 1 Chronicles 29:11-13
My pastor loves to say this and it sticks with me each and every time, “If God isn’t the God of everything, then He isn’t the God of anything.” it’s a beautiful reminder of how easy it is to let God sit in the background while we take the wheel. But we weren’t meant to be in control, we were meant to have free will but not to control everything. When we take up the driver seat and take control of where we are going, we usually end up lost or back in places we were never meant to be because we were too busy looking in the rearview or forcing a future that wasn’t meant to be for us. When God takes the wheel, when we allow Him to take control of the vehicle then we finally get momentum in the right direction. He may take us down a hill, but that hill is what gives our life the push we needed to remember that HE is the God of everything, and He really isn’t the God of anything until we allow Him to stay in His rightful place.
So many people wish they had a valet, or someone who would take the wheel and drive us where we need to go. We have that, we have the Holy Spirit, we have Jesus, we have the Father, WE HAVE THE TRINITY and yet we refuse to let Him take the wheel and be our chauffeur.
How can you let God take control of the wheel today?
